Yakult Swallows

Shohei Tateyama is currently sticking to a very regimented schedule.  He is awake by 6:00am and in bed by 11:00pm.  He plays catch at 10:30am everyday and has timed exactly when he should begin his weight training exercises.  He also eats three meals a day, scheduled at specific intervals, and takes just one day off for every two weeks of training and rehab.  All this to make sure he makes it back from Tommy John surgery as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Shinjiro Hiyama may have retired, but still has plans to work out in Guam for about ten days in January.  Oh will also be there.  The two might bump into each other.  They may have actually crossed paths much earlier -- Hiyama has held workouts in Guam since 2001 and the Samsung Lions, Oh's former team, have used some of the same facilities for their spring camp.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Daisuke Miura made some headlines on Wednesday and Thursday because he appeared at his salary negotiations on Wednesday without his usual regent (aka pompadour) hair style.  Instead, his hair was down and he wore glasses.

Miura will be a pitching coach in title only.  He is not expected to attend meetings as a coach and his top priority will be to prepare as a pitcher.  The title was given to him to make it easier for other players to approach him.
