Takumi Numata (19) has finalized a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.  He reportedly agreed to a deal worth less than two million yen with a signing bonus of ten million (all estimates).

With regards to his amateur baseball status in Japan: "As an Industrial League club team, we met maybe two to three times a week.  In my mind, it was like sandlot baseball.  I did not think it was cover by the draft rules...  And I never had any desire to return to that."
