Toshiaki Imae (30) met the Chiba Lotte Marines for salary negotiations today. Imae earned his international FA option this past season. He decided not to exercise his option. The two sides agreed to a two-year extension today, worth an estimated 400 million yen plus incentives. He will make an estimated 200 million yen plus incentives next season (up sixty million yen from this past season). He is the first Japanese position player in franchise history to reach the 200 million yen milestone in salary.
The Marines may be close to finalizing a two-year contract worth an estimated 440 million yen plus incentives with free agent Hideaki Wakui (27). An announcement of a deal could be made as early as Monday. People close to the negotiations told reporters negotiations took time because the two sides were having difficulty working out the incentives.
Wakui will most likely be assigned the number sixteen.
