Nagisa Arakaki is prepared to pitch out of the bullpen, if that is where he is assigned next season.

"I have only started so there is concern about pushing myself too hard from the start in relief.  But not pitching at all means nothing can happen.  The organization signed and drafted new players.  It was tough not being able to pitch when I was hurt, but not being able to pitch when I can will also be difficult.  If I can not pitch, then I cannot help the team," Arakaki said.

The Hawks could end up having up to eight foreign players under contract next season.

That includes pitchers Edison Barrios, Paul Oseguera, Jason Standridge, Brian Wolfe, and Dennis Sarfate and position players Bryan LaHair and Barbaro Canizares.  Dae-Ho Lee would be eight, if/when the Hawks sign him.

Rakuten Eagles

Hiromichi Fujiwara wanted to continue playing, but decided to retire because he did not receive any calls after the twelve team tryouts in November.  Fujiwara was plagued by injuries over his career.  He developed pain in his left shoulder during his first year that led to elbow problems in his second year.  He ended up going under the knife after the 2010 season and attempted a comeback with a start against the Softbank Hawks on August 19, 2011.  But he felt pain in his elbow and left after throwing just 2.2 innings.  He was re-signed to an Ikusei contract after the 2011 season and made it back to the seventy-man roster in 2012, but was senryokugaied in October 2013.  He will return to the Eagles next year as a batting practice pitcher.
