Chunichi Dragons

The Dragons could end up about 500 million in the red after this season.  Team officials are hopeful they can move into the black next year after Hiromitsu Ochiai's player salary cuts this off-season.

The Tigers are afraid of losing out on additional merchandising and marketing opportunities for Gratiii celebrations on the field.  They plan to sit down with Development Coordinator Masayuki Kakefu to see if they can persuade him to go along with it.

Kakefu has been against the celebrations since day one because he feels it shows a lack of respect.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Norihiro Nakamura is preparing himself to play any and all infield positions next year.

"What the manager says goes.  My job is to be ready to play anywhere.  I want to be ready to meet expectations, not only at third, but also at second and short," Nakamura said.

He continued, "I want young players to see what is it like to play under the pressure of the Climax Series.  I will play anywhere if it means I can help the team."

If Aarom Baldiris wins the job at third and Tony Blanco at first, Nakamura could see some playing time at short.

Yasutomo Kubo does not mind the heckling too much.  He also believes cheering is not always a good thing and heckling not always a bad thing.

"I am looking forward to [pitching at Koshien].  I do not know how the fans will react.  If I am focused on the mound, then I will hear nothing, but I will be able to hear them when I walk to and from the mound." Kubo said.

He added, "When I look back at my career with Hashin, it seems fans cheered for players they did not have strong connections with.  When they started heckling you, that was proof you made it to a certain level."
