[1/4/2014] Charity auction raises 710,500 yen for high school player that lost both legs in car accident
Last August, Shukutoku High School baseball player Hiroaki Mori (森宏明) lost both his legs in a freak car accident -- a speeding car rammed him and pinned him into a wall, the driver was a university student that was reportedly trying to impress other high school students with his driving skills.
Nippon Ham Fighter Kenshi Sugiya and Yokohama Bay Stars Takuro Ito attended a charity auction for Mori on Friday that was organized by the Higashi Nerima Senior baseball team. Sugiya, Ito, and Mori were all former players of the youth baseball team.
Baseball memorabilia provided by Sugiya, Ito, and a number of other former and current players like Tatsunori Hara and Koji Uehara, were auctioned off with all proceeds (710,500 yen) going to Mori.
