Yomiuri Giants

Tetsuya Utsumi, Tetsuya Yamaguchi, Ryosuke Miyaguni, Shogo Shibata, Yuki Koyama, Shoki Kasahara, and Hiroshima's Jumpei Ono left for workouts in Guam out of Narita Airport today.  Utsumi is already playing catch at a distance between seventy and eighty meters.

The Tigers could make an announcement on their compensation for losing Yasutomo Kubo to the Yokohama Bay Stars on Monday.  They might select Kazunari Tsuruoka as part of their compensation.

Takahiro Arai worked out at his alma mater Hiroshima Kogyo High School today.  He told reporters that his right shoulder was feeling great and that he could not wait for the start of spring camp.

Ryoma Matsuda closed out his workouts at Shimabara, Nagasaki on Saturday.  He will continue his training at various locations, like his alma mater Hasami High School, until he returns to Naruohama on the 9th.

Matsuda has three goals this season: stay healthy, make a name for himself as a set-up man, pitch in at least fifty-six games.

Hiroshima Carp

Eishin Soyogi worked out for about three and a half hours at Mazda Stadium today.  He focused on lower body strengthening exercises.  He will be heading to Guam on the 9th.

1st round draft pick Daichi Osera worked out at Kyushu Kyoritsu University today.  His workouts included running and playing catch at a distance of about thirty meters (he threw the ball fifty times).  He also took part in a baseball clinic in the early morning.

2nd round draft pick Allen Kuri's grandmother lives in Tottori.  The Carp play two games against the Hanshin Tigers in Yonago, Tottori on May 13 and 14.  Kuri is hoping to pitch in one of those games.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Kiyoshi Nakahata chipped a tooth during the New Year holiday that required some dental work.  He will undergo medical treatment later this month for a cervical hernia that has been causing him problems since last February -- he had four nerve block injections during the season and at times complained of numbness in the lower left-half of his body.  He is hoping to make it to spring camp without any pain.

Yakult Swallows

Yoshinori Sato worked out in Sendai today.  He tossed twenty-five pitches to a standing catcher and forty-two pitches to a squatting catcher in the bullpen.  It was his second session in as many days.  It was also his first public session with a squatting catcher since April 13, 2012.

Yoshinori will head to Okinawa on the 10th.
