Koji Uehara worked out in Tokyo on Monday.  Workouts included weight training, running, and playing catch at a distance of about nineteen meters (he threw fastballs, sliders, and curves).  He told reporters he was at about sixty percent.

Daisuke Matsuzaka bumped into Uehara and former Seibu Lion teammate Kazuo Matsui while working out in Tokyo on Monday.

The media learned on Monday that former Rakuten Eagles Public Relations Manager Yoshiki Sato will provide Masahiro Tanaka with support in the United States.  Tanaka will also reportedly have a personal interpreter.

Tanaka has been working out in the Kanto region with players like Shinichiro Koyama and Takahiro Norimoto since the 4th.  His workouts in the region will continue through to the 17th.

Gosuke Kato is interested in representing Japan during a future World Baseball Classic.

"I would love an opportunity to play for Japan at the World Baseball Classic.  I am not quite there yet, but that is one of my goals.  I would like to play Japanese-style baseball with other Japanese players," Kato said to Daily Sports.
