The New York Times' David Waldstein has a couple of tweets on Masahiro Tanaka (via NBC Sports' Hardball Talk 1/13/2014).

Consensus in Japan right now is that Yankees and Dodgers are favorites on Tanaka and word is his wife prefers to be on West Coast. [Tweet 1/14/2014]

But supposedly his wife has said "it's a goal, not a mandate." [Tweet 1/14/2014]

The San Francisco Giants have invited former Softbank Hawk Kameron Loe to spring training.

I guess I can kind of understand that sentiment, but during the regular season, he’s not traveling to Japan. So does that long trip really matter THAT much for the 4 months he can actually travel? I’ve never made the trip so I don’t know. I just feel like it looks better on a map than it really is when you think about it and how often you are realistically going to be able to make that trip.
