The Eagles held a staff meeting in Sendai today to discuss plans for spring camp.  1st round draft pick Yuki Matsui has been assigned to Ichi-gun camp.

The 2013 draft class visited old Yuriage Junior High School in Natori, Miyagi today.  The tour provided the players with a reminder of the devastating effects of earthquakes and tsunamis.

Seibu Lions

The 2013 draft class took a lifesaving course at the team offices in Tokorozawa, Saitama today.  The session lasted about three hours and included information on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillators (AED).

2nd round draft pick Hotaka Yamakawa's batted ball speed was measured at 160km/h during a physical fitness test at the National Training Center in Kita-Ku, Tokyo on Monday (he also hit 163km/h during practice).

Takayuki Kishi is slated to be the opening day pitcher -- Haruki Ihara informed the ace of the decision on Monday.  The starting rotation could be Kishi, Kazuhisa Makita, Yusei Kikuchi, Ryoma Nogami, Yosuke Okamoto, and Greg Reynolds.  Ihara believes the team could win more than ninety games if their rotation remains healthy over the course of the full season.
