Kiyoshi Nakahata has been asked not to hit grounders during spring break out of concern for the players.  General Manager Shigeru Takada and the team trainers are worried about injuries because they feel players might push too hard if asked to participate in his fielding workouts.  Nakahata will take the request into consideration and will still probably hit some grounders since he feels it is a good way to communicate with players.

Nakahata let slip that four members of the 2013 draft class will be assigned to Ichi-gun spring camp -- 1st round draft pick Yuta Kakita, 2nd round draft pick Shingo Hirata, 3rd round draft pick Hiroki Minei, and 4th round draft pick Tomoya Mikami.
