Samurai Japan Manager Hiroki Kokubo visited the NPB offices on Wednesday. He met Commissioner Katsuhiko Kumazaki and exchanged ideas and opinions regarding Samurai Japan. The NPB is currently planning to schedule another international series for Samurai Japan in November. In speaking to the media, Kokubo said he planned to go with a roster that will be close to what might be used for upcoming international tournaments. He also said that while he might have to make considerations for pitchers based on their workloads during the season, he would most likely go with the top available talent when selecting position players.
Umpire training camp began at Jingu Stadium on Wednesday. Umpires had a chance to go over the new replay option for close plays on balls hit up against the outfield walls. Problematic issues will be worked out during spring camp.
