Rakuten Eagles

1st round draft pick Yuki Matsui received his first "paycheck" on Friday.  He told reporters he wanted to use the money to buy something for his parents.

1st round draft pick Tomoya Mori attended his high school graduation ceremony on Saturday.

Ryota Wakiya worked out at Seibu 2 Stadium for the first time on Saturday.  He had been working out in Kyoto until the 23rd.

The Marines visited Narita-san Shinsho-ji temple on Saturday to pray for a successful season.

Softbank Hawks

Sho Iwasaki is thinking about using Funassyi‎'s Funa Funa Funassyi‎ - Funassyi‎ Koshiki Theme Song for his intro music this season.

Kazuyuki Hoashi throws a fastball that has natural slider-like movement.  He is working on a "straight" fastball to counter his slider-fastball.  He is not sure if it will be an effective pitch, but wants to give it a try.  He is also testing different grips for his two-seamer.

Shota Oba spent some time training in Los Angeles earlier this month.  He had a chance to talk about pitching mechanics with teammate Ryota Igarashi and a chance to talk about how to approach pitching with Hiroki Kuroda.  He recently returned to Japan and showed up at the Saitozaki training facilities on Friday for the first time this year.  He threw thirty-five pitches in the bullpen, took a break, and then threw an additional forty.

Orix Buffaloes

1st round draft pick Kazumasa Yoshida tossed a bullpen session to a squatting catcher on Saturday for the first time this year (it was also his third session overall).  He threw thirty pitches, including his breaking balls.

Yoshida, 2nd round draft pick Daiki Tomei, and 8th round draft pick Satoshi Oyama will head to Miyakojima on Sunday for pre-spring camp workouts.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Michael Crotta resumed his training in Sapporo on Saturday.

Crotta came to Japan with his PlayStation 4.  He likes the outdoors, but is worried about injury and stays indoors and plays games during the season.

Shohei Otani took about seventy swings during batting practice in Nago, Okinawa on Friday and hit three over the fence.  Two were hit out toward right an estimated distance of about 130 meters (Nikkan Sports estimated the distance at 150 meters).

Otani tossed a bullpen session to a squatting catcher on Saturday.  He threw sixty pitches, including various breaking balls.
