Shota Takeda started toying with a knuckle-curve during his workouts in Los Angeles.  Ryota Igarashi was apparently teaching the pitch to Shota Oba when Takeda overheard the conversation and decided to give it a try.  He was able to get the mechanics down after throwing it about two times.  He threw a few knuckle-curves while playing catch on Monday.

According to ZakZak, some MLB teams might be keeping a close eye on Chihiro Kaneko and Yoshihisa Hirano to see what they do after the season.  Both pitchers could earn domestic FA options this year and might be thinking about testing the market.  However, some MLB teams feel Masahiro Tanaka's deal with the New York Yankees might make one or both seriously consider crossing the ocean to the play in the Majors.  If that becomes the case, the Buffaloes could seriously consider posting as an option since both players would only have one more year until their international FA options.
