  • Chris Seddon - Giants Stadium; ten to standing catcher, twelve to squatting catcher; mixed in change-ups and sliders
  • Ryosuke Miyaguni - Giants Stadium; seventy pitches to squatting catcher

Pre-spring camp training camp in Miyazaki ended on Thursday.  Shinnosuke Abe caught some pitchers in the bullpen and watched some pitchers, like Toshiya Sugiuchi and Kan Otake, in the bullpen from the vantage point of the home plate umpire.

Scott Mathieson arrived at Narita Airport from Tampa on Thursday.  He was originally supposed to take a flight with a stopover in Atlanta, but ended up having to go through Minneapolis because of snow.  He resumed throwing in December.

The first Japanese phrase Leslie Anderson learned was onaka suita, which means I am hungry.  It was apparently an easy phrase to remember because the pronunciation sounded like una casita in Spanish, which means small house.

Abe told Masaki Sakaguchi his hair was too long during a player gathering on Monday night.  Sakaguchi shaved his hair down to twelve millimeters.  Shuichi Murata thought it was still too long -- if he was going to shave it, why stop there, why not shave it shorter.  Sakaguchi plans to shave it down to nine millimeters.
