Softbank Hawks

The Hawks arrived in Miyazaki on Friday.

Paul Oseguera was back to sporting an mohawk on Friday.  He told reporters it might be his last mohawk and that next year, he might not have any hair.

Dennis Sarfate is ready to pitch on consecutive days and wants to pitch in as many games as possible.  Last season, he pitched in six straight games over a span of seven days (two games + off-day + four games).  He is close to 100 percent and could toss a bullpen session on the first day of spring camp.

Ryota IgarashiMasahiko Morifuku, Akihiro Yanase, and Hideki Okajima are among the other pitchers that Sarfate could be competing against.

Yuki Saito tossed fifteen pitches in the bullpen on Thursday.  He gave Masahiro Inui his mobile phone and asked him to record his session from behind the catcher.  He checked his throwing motion immediately after he threw his last pitch.

Shohei Otani threw sixty pitches in the bullpen and hit two over the fence during batting practice on Thursday.  He does not plan to do much golfing on his off-days during spring camp.  He would rather rest.

Luis Mendoza cut his hair two days before arriving in Japan.  He told reporters he would rather not cut his hair during the season, if at all possible.  While he does not have a specific reason for growing his hair, it is something he has been doing since 2007.  When told about Sho Nakata's propensity for "crazy hair," Mendoza said he looked forward to meeting the slugger and talking to him.
