Akifumu Takahashi was examined at a hospital on Wednesday because he was not feeling well.  The Dragons announced on Thursday that he tested positive for influenza A.

Anderson Hernandez developed pus behind his left knee.  He had surgery to treat the condition and will miss a day or two of practices.  He was already walking around on Thursday.

Former Chunichi Dragon Toru Mori died of liver cancer at a hospital in Tokyo at 8:52am on Thursday.  He was seventy-eight.

Mori played for the Chunichi Dragons, Taiyo Whales, and Tokyo Orions during his career.  He had his best year in 1959 when he lead the league in home runs (thirty-one) and RBI (eighty-seven).  He made the Best Nine three times (1958-1960) and the All-Star Team five times (1959-1963).
