Masahiro Yamamoto will pitch two innings in a Kyoiku League game against Orix on March 6.  He will then most likely get a Kyoiku League game start against Orix on March 11.  After that, he could pitch in an exhibition game against Orix on the 18th or 19th.

At the start of the season, Yamamoto will be forty-eight years and seven months old.  He could break three records this season: Shinji Hamazaki holds the record for oldest pitcher to win a game at forty-eight years and four months (set in May 1950); Hamazaki also holds the record for oldest pitcher to appear in a game at forty-eight years and ten months; Yamamoto tied Sadaharu Oh's record for wearing the same uniform number for thirty consecutive seasons last year.
