Takumi Kuriyama may have started feeling discomfort in his left hamstring during a practice game against Hanshin on Saturday (March 2).  He took things slow during workouts at Seibu Dome on Tuesday with tightness in the hamstring.  He will be sent down to Ni-gun so he can continue his rehab uninterrupted when the team goes on road trips.  There is no timetable on when he will return to Ichi-gun.

Chiba Lotte Marines

  • There are plans to use Yuji Nishino out of the bullpen this season, but he could find himself back in the mix as a starter if Takahiro Fujioka is unable to convince coaches he deserves to be the sixth pitcher in the rotation.  The first five spots could go to Yoshihsa Naruse, Hideaki Wakui, Takuya Furuya, Yuki Karakawa, and 1st round draft pick Ayumu Ishikawa.  Source: Sports Hochi 3/4/2014
  • Another option for the starting rotation is 4th round draft pick Shohei Yoshihara.  Source: Sponichi 3/4/2014
  • 5th round draft pick Seiya Inoue's intro music will likely be Yuzu's with you.  Inoue wanted to use a symphonic piece entitled Hiroshima, but team officials felt it was not a good idea after the Mamoru Samuragochi scandal.  Source: Nikkan Sports 3/4/2014
