[3/6/2014] Rakuten Eagles, Chiba Lotte Marines, Nippon Ham Fighters

Rakuten Eagles

Yuki Matsui could make his first regular season start on either March 29 against Seibu at Seibu Dome or April 1 against Orix at Kobo Stadium.  Matsui was allowed to pitch an extra inning on Wednesday because of how well he handled the first four innings.  His next start will likely come against Orix on the 12th.

Takahiro Norimoto, Manabu Mima, Takahiro Shiomi, Wataru KarashimaTravis Blackley, Yudai Mori, and Matsui are candidates for the opening day starting rotation.

Chiba Lotte Marines

  • Yoshihisa Naruse will start a game against Hanshin at Koshien on Friday.  He is expected to pitch four innings.  Source: Sports Hochi 3/6/2014

Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Shohei Otani threw about fifty pitches in the bullpen on Wednesday in preparation for his exhibition game start on the 8th against Hanshin.  Source: Sponichi 3/6/2014
  • Yuki Saito's next appearance will likely come against Seibu on the 12th.  Naoyuki Uwasawa is slated to start the game.  Source: Nikkan Sports 3/6/2014
  • Yuya Taniguchi will head to Ni-gun for more playing time -- he is scheduled to play in three Kyoiku League games.  He is expected to return to Ichi-gun on the 11th.  Source: Nikkan Sports 3/6/2014
  • Mitsuo Yoshikawa started a Kyoiku League game against Yakult on Thursday and tossed four shutout innings.  He allowed one hit and walked/hit six.  Hiroshi Kisanuki entered the game in the 6th and gave up three runs on seven hits in four innings of work. Source: Sports Hochi 3/6/2014
