[3/8/2014] Injury Updates: Mauro Gomez (Hanshin), Takeya Nakamura (Seibu)

Hanshin Tigers

  • Mauro Gomez (right knee) spent about thirteen minutes taking indoor batting practice on Friday.  His outdoor workouts included running and playing catch.  He will continue his rehab/workouts at Naruohama for the time being.  Yutaka Wada is planning to check on Gomez at some point over the next week.  Source: Sponichi 3/8/2014, Nikkan Sports 3/8/2014 ,,, Gomez worked out at Naruohama on Saturday.  He took indoor batting practice and told reporters he swung the bat at eighty percent strength.  Source: Nikkan Sports 3/8/2014

Seibu Lions

  • Takeya Nakamura (left side) might be okay for opening day.  He resumed soft-toss batting practice on the 6th and could begin playing in exhibition games beginning on the 18th against Yomiuri.  He could also play in some Ni-gun games.  Source: Sponichi 3/8/2014, Sports Hochi 3/8/2014

Orix Buffaloes

  • Teppei felt some discomfort in his left thigh while playing defense in the 2nd inning of Friday's exhibition game against Yomiuri.  He was replaced by a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the inning as a precaution.  He is considered day-to-day.  Source: Nikkan Sports 3/8/2014
  • Yoshitomo Tani (left foot) re-joined regular Ni-gun workouts on Friday.  He swung the bat at sixty to seventy percent strength and took grounders hit directly at him during fielding practice.  He told reporters he should be fine for opening day.  Source: Daily Sports 3/8/2014
