Hanshin Tigers

  • The Tigers are winless in their first seven exhibition games (0-6-1).  This was their first six-game losing streak during exhibition play in five years.  It was also the first time they started the exhibition season without a win in seven consecutive games since 1980.  Source: Daily Sports 3/9/2014
  • Atsushi Nomi started a Kyoiku League game against Chunichi at Naruohama on Sunday and gave up two runs on four hits over four innings of work.  Source: Sponichi 3/9/2014
  • Team official Keiichiro Yotsufuji told reporters on Sunday that umpire Masato Tomoyose told him there were no problems with Seung Hwan Oh's delivery -- Tomoyose did not think Oh was purposely trying to trick hitters with the tap and otherwise found the motion to be fluid.  Source: Nikkan Sports 3/9/2014, Daily Sports 3/9/2014
  • If Mauro Gomez does not make it as a clean-up hitter, the Tigers could turn to Matt Murton.  Source: ZakZak 3/9/2014, Sponichi 3/9/2014
  • The Takahiro and Ryota Arai were given permission to take time away from the team to tend to family matters (a relative is sick).  It is not known when they will rejoin the team.  Source: Sponichi 3/9/2014
  • Oh's next outing: against Hiroshima at Koshien on March 12.  Source: Sanspo 3/9/2014

Hiroshima Carp

  • A MaeTomo Boya figure/statue, modeled after Tomonori Maeda, was unveiled at Mazda Stadium on Sunday.  The figure is located in the concourse on the right field side and cost about one million to make.  Source: Nikkan Sports 3/9/2014

Yakult Swallows

  • The Swallows have six foreign players on the seventy-man roster: Wladimir Balentien, Lastings Milledge, Tony Barnette, Orlando Roman, Chris Carpenter, and Chris Narveson.  They might want both position players on the active roster, but with a number of their pitchers coming back from injuries, they might also consider going with three pitchers and one position player.  Source: ZakZak 3/9/2014
  • Yasuhiro Ogawa's next outing: against Yokohama at Hotto Motto on the March 13.  Source: Sanpso 3/9/2014
