  • Hiroaki Saiuchi could start an Ichi-gun game on the 27th against Yokohama at Yokohama.  Daiki Enokida's next start will come at Ni-gun on the 24th against Chunichi at Koshien.  Source: Nikkan Sports 4/21/2014
  • 4th round draft pick Ryutaro Umeno made the starting line-up on Sunday.  He is the first rookie catcher in franchise history to make the starting line-up since Ryo Asai in 2002.  He is the first rookie catcher in franchise history to make the starting line-up before the end of April since Koichi Tabuchi in 1969. Yakult Swallows

  • Wladimir Balentien became the first player in the NPB to hit ten home runs on Sunday.  He was also first in 2011 and 2012.  The last player to reach ten home runs before the rest of the NPB three or more times over their career was Ralph Bryant (1991-1993).  The last Central League player was Sadaharu Oh (1963, 1965-67, 1976).  Balentien also set a new franchise record by blasting his tenth home run in his nineteenth game.  The previous record of twenty-one games was set by Larry Parrish in 1989.
