Takeya Nakamura (back tightness) played in a Ni-gun rehab game against Yakult today. He was the starting first baseman and batted clean-up. He went 1-for-4 with a walk and hit a solo home run off Katsuki Akagawa in the 3rd. This was his fourth Ni-gun rehab game and the first time he played first base since an exhibition game against Yomiuri at Seibu Dome on March 18.
Nakamura could make the active roster in time for a three-game Softbank series that begins at YafuOku Dome on the 25th. When he does make it to Ichi-gun, he could end up batting fifth behind Hideto Asamura. Asamura has been hitting the ball well out of the four-hole while the five-hole has been a revolving door with eight different players going 13-for-74 with a slash line of .176/.247/.243 (through Monday).
