The NPB could switch over to "certified" standard baseballs as early as the 29th, once they confirm Mizuno's plant in Shanghai is capable of producing shipments that fall within the limits set by the league.
A new batch of baseballs are set to arrive in Japan on the 23rd. The Japan Vehicle Inspection Association (JVIA) could conduct tests on the new baseballs on the 25th. If the average coefficient of restitution falls between 0.4034 and 0.4234, the NPB will give the green light to switch stock over to the certified balls.
Samurai Japan is hoping to play six exhibition games against a team of MLB players in November. The games could be played at four venues: Sapporo, Tokyo, Osaka, and Okinawa. Samurai Japan could also play a couple of practice games against Softbank before the start of the exhibition games.
