Rakuten Eagles

  • Yuki Matsui threw about 100 pitches in the bullpen on Monday in preparation for his next start on Wednesday.  Matsui is trying to find stability in his mechanics by improving the way he uses his right foot.  He is also working on pitching from the set position. Chiba Lotte Marines

Softbank Hawks

  • The Hawks are planning to go with a seven-man rotation when they play a stretch of nine consecutive games during the Golden Week break (April 29-May 7).  The two that get added to the current mix of five could be Kazuyuki Hoashi (May 1 vs Orix at Hotto Motto) and Shota Oba (May 5 vs Nippon Ham at YafuOku Dome). Orix Buffaloes

  • Mamoru Kishida is slated to start a Ni-gun game against Softbank on Wednesday.  Kishida was taken off the active roster on the 17th because he was not needed in the rotation.  He could rejoin the Ichi-gun team for an upcoming Softbank series that begins on the 29th. Source: Sanspo 4/22/2014

Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Anthony Carter was introduced to the media during a press conference at Tokyo Dome on Tuesday. Source: official announcement
  • The Fighters sold over 20,000 advance tickets for an inter-league game against Hanshin at Sapporo Dome on May 31 in a little over a week.  The game is drawing attention from fans because it has been announced as a Players Special Game for Shohei Otani.
