Hanshin Tigers

  • Daiki Enokida started a Ni-gun game against Chunichi on Thursday and gave up a run on two hits over four innings of work.  He is hoping to make it back to the active roster in time for a start on May 10 against the Yomiuri Giants. Source: Sanspo 4/25/2014

  • 6th round draft pick Suguru Iwazaki moved into the team dormitory weighing eighty-two kilograms.  He now weighs close to ninety kilograms. Source: Nikkan Sports 4/25/2014 ... Iwazaki and Takateru Iyono (10th round in 2002) are the only two pitchers drafted after the 5th round in franchise history to win at least one game in their first year.  Iwazaki is the first to win two.   • 1st round draft pick Daichi Osera was the winning pitcher on Thursday.  3rd round draft pick Kosuke Tanaka drove in the game-winning run.  The last time two rookies were responsible for a win and game-winning RBI was on May 16, 1999 -- Koji Uehara tossed a complete game victory for the Yomiuri Giants, Tomohiro Nioka drove in the game-winning run.   • The Carp moved ten games above .500 on Thursday for the first time since May 14, 1998 (21-11-0). ... Osera and 2nd round draft pick Allen Kuri each have two victories.  This is the first time in franchise history two rookie pitchers managed to record two or more victories each before the end of April. Yokohama Bay Stars

  • Kiyoshi Nakahata believes the team will be in decent shape if it can play at least .500 ball until the start of Inter-league play.  They are planning to move to a seven-man rotation for an upcoming nine-game stretch that begins on May 3.  Shigeru Kaga and Kisho Kagami are slated to rejoin the rotation over the next couple of weeks.
