Rakuten Eagles

  • 1st round draft pick Yuki Matsui could face Yuki Saito when he starts a Ni-gun game against Nippon Ham at Kamagaya on May 5. Source: Sponichi 4/29/2014
  • 6th round draft pick Takaaki Yokoyama is slated to start a Ni-gun game against Seibu on the 30th. Source: Nikkan Sports 4/29/2014
  • Takashi Kawai started a Ni-gun game against Seibu on Tuesday.  He pitched six shutout innings and allowed four hits. Source: Nikkan Spots 4/29/2014
  • As part of the Eagles' Tohoku Smile Project, the bases will be colored yellow for Tohoku Smile Day on May 4.  The Tohoku Smile Project was established this year to put smiles on the faces of children living in the Tohoku region and to help raise money for an indoor children's sports facility.  The Eagles are hoping to raise awareness with the yellow bases.  The Softbank Hawks have been doing something similar with pink bases for breast cancer. Seibu Lions

  • The Jungle Taitei uniforms were officially unveiled to fans after Tuesday's game against Nippon Ham.  They will be worn during games against Orix (August 12-14) and Nippon Ham (August 15-17). Source: official announcement

Orix Buffaloes

Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Shohei Otani will probably get two or three more starts on six days of rest before moving to a schedule that will give him a little more time in between games. Source: Nikkan Sports 4/29/2014 ... Otani's next start is scheduled to come on May 4 against Orix at Sapporo Dome.  He is expected to toss two bullpen sessions before the start. Source: Sponichi 4/29/2014 ...
