Rakuten Eagles

  • 1st round draft pick Yuki Matsui will be pitching out of the bullpen at Ni-gun to increase his pitching opportunities.  That could mean pitching two innings in relief on two days of rest, or three innings in relief on three days of rest.  The Eagles were originally expected to use Matsui as a starter, but they already have enough arms in the rotation that are closer to making it to the active roster. Chiba Lotte Marines

Softbank Hawks

  • Nao Higashihama started a Ni-gun game against Hanshin on Friday.  He gave up two runs on ten hits over seven innings.  He topped out at 144km/h. Source: Nikkan Sports 5/3/2014

Orix Buffaloes

  • Tomotaka Sakaguchi was taken off the active roster on Saturday with a fever and swollen tonsils. Source: Nikkan Sports 5/3/2014
  • Yoshihiko Miyauchi will most likely step down as chief executive officer and board chairman of Orix Corp in late June.  He will most likely remain in the company as a senior chairman (new position) and retain his title as owner of the Buffaloes.  A final decision will be made during a board meeting on the 8th.
