Yomiuri Giants

  • The Giants hit into five double plays on Sunday.  The NPB record of six double plays by one team in a game was set by Hankyu in 1970, Yomiuri in 1995, and Yokohama in 1996. Source: Nikkan Sports 5/4/2014
  • Shinnosuke Abe was 1-for-17 with runners in scoring position this season through Friday.  He recorded two RBIs in the seventeen at bats, one on a sac fly and another on a walk.  The two-run double he hit in the 1st inning on Saturday against Chunichi was his first timely hit in 105 trips to the plate since the last timely hit he recorded during his first trip to the plate on October 3, 2013. Chunichi Dragons
