Chiba Lotte Marines

  • Takashi Ogino led off Tuesday's game with an inside-the-park home run.  It was the fourth lead-off inside-the-park home run in Pacific League history (eighth overall) and first since Seibu's Katsuhiko Miyaji hit one on September 2, 2000.  It was also the first lead-off inside-the-park home run that came on the first pitch of the game in Pacific League history. Softbank Hawks

  • The Hawks won their game against Nippon Ham on a walk-off wild pitch on Tuesday -- with runners on second and third in the bottom of the 9th, Nobuhiro Matsuda swung and missed at a wild pitch thrown by Hirotoshi Masui.  It was only the second time in NPB history a team won a game on a swing-and-miss walk-off wild pitch.  The other was on June 23, 1994 between Orix and Lotte, Ichiro Suzuki was the hitter. Orix Buffaloes

Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Shohei Otani's next start could come on the 13th against Seibu on eight days of rest.  He started his last two games on six days of rest and the coaches decided to give him a couple of extra days because they were worried about his fatigue. Source: Nikkan Sports 5/6/2014
