Yomiuri Giants

  • Frederich Cepeda could make his Ichi-gun debut as early as the 15th.  It all depends on how things work out over the next couple of days. Source: Nikkan Sports 5/13/2014 ... Three foreign players are currently on the active roster: Scott Mathieson, Jose Lopez, and Leslie Anderson.  Once Cepeda is ready to join the active roster, he will most likely get the ever day job in left.  That will probably shift Anderson to first.  Lopez will most likely take a spot on the bench and will probably be the first to be removed from the active roster when the Giants need Chris Seddon to make a start. Source: Daily Sports 5/13/2014 ... Cepeda worked out at the Ni-gun facilities in Kawasaki on Tuesday.  He took ninety-two swings against a pitching machine and Ikusei coach Koji Goto (he threw batting practice). Source: Daily Sports 5/13/2014 ... Cepeda's workouts on Tuesday included running, playing catch, and batting practice.  He arrived in Japan on Monday.  It took him about twenty-one hours, with a stop-over in Moscow. Hanshin Tigers

  • With Shinobu Fukuhara hurt, the Tigers are open to using closer Seung-Hwan Oh for more than one inning at a time (dependent on circumstances and scheduling).  A lot will come down to how well Yuya Ando and Kosuke Kato pitch. Source: Nikkan Sports 5/13/2014, Daily Sports 5/13/2014, Sports Hochi 5/13/2014, Sponichi 5/13/2014 ... Oh pitched in more than one inning on Tuesday for the first time this year -- he entered the game in the 10th with the bases loaded and two out and pitched through the 11th. Sponichi 5/13/2014
  • Matt Murton told reporters on Monday he was still eating light, but was feeling better.  He was back in the starting line-up on Tuesday. Source: Nikkan Sports 5/13/2014, Daily Sports 5/13/2014
  • Shintaro Fujinami is planning to continue tossing one bullpen session in between starts, two days before each start, for the time being.  He was originally tossing two bullpen sessions in between starts, with one of his two sessions one day before each start. Source: Sanspo 5/13/2014

Hiroshima Carp

  • The trio of Kenta Maeda, Bryan Bulington, and 1st round draft pick Daichi Osera will most likely get starts during an upcoming three-game series against the Yomiuri Giants at Tokyo Dome (May 16-18). Source: Sports Hochi 5/13/2014
  • The Carp have not set a replacement closer while Kam Mickolio recovers from an adductor injury. Possibilities include Zach Phillips, Katsuhiro Nagakawa, and Ryuji Ichioka.  Source: Nikkan Sports 5/13/2014, Daily Sports 5/13/2014

Chunichi Dragons

  • Yudai Ono is slated to get Thursday's start against Yokohama at Yokohama. Source: Sponichi 5/13/2014

Yokohama Bay Stars

  • Jorge Sosa could lose his spot on the active roster to Yulieski Gourriel.  That could in turn open a pitching spot for Shun Yamaguchi. Source: Sponichi 5/13/2014
