Rakuten Eagles

  • The Eagles are planning to call up Travis Blackley.  He could get a start either during the Chunichi series (kobo Stadium, 23rd-24th) or the Yakult series (Jingu, 25th-26th). Source: Sanspo 5/20/2014
  • Pitchers 1st round draft pick Yuki Matsui, 3rd round draft pick Kodai Hamaya, 9th round draft pick Ryuta Konno, Sho Miyagawa, and Loek Van Mil and position players Ryo Hijirisawa, Shintaro Masuda, and Keiji Oyama worked out with the Ichi-gun team at kobo Stadium on Saturday. Softbank Hawks

  • Yuichi Honda became the twenty-eighth player in NPB history to steal 300 bases on Tuesday.  He also became the eighth player in NPB history to reach the milestone in fewer than 1,000 games.  300 stolen bases in 996 games is second quickest in franchise history, behind Chusuke Kizuka's 657, set in 1953. Orix Buffaloes

  • 2nd round draft pick Daiki Tomei is scheduled to make his first career start on Wednesday against Hanshin.  Tomei was used as a reliever at the start of the season.  The coaching staff decided they wanted to grow him as a starter and gave him time to re-adjust by sending him down to Ni-gun. Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Pitching coach Kazuyuki Atsuzawa plans to give Shohei Otani starts on six or more days of rest during Inter-league play.  That could mean starts on May 28 against Yakult at Jingu, June 4 against Hiroshima at Sapporo Dome, and June 11 against Yomiuri at Sapporo Dome.
