Yomiuri Giants

  • Yuki Koyama has one kanji character stitched onto each of his cleats.  The right has the character 祥, which means something good by itself, but is also a part of his father's first name, Shoichi.  The left has the character 幸, which means luck and is a part of his mother's first name, Sachiko.  The characters serve as a reminder to appreciate others. Hiroshima Carp

  • Bihoku Transportation in Hiroshima will run a Carp wrap on buses between Miyoshi and Shobara for two years, beginning on the 27th. Source: Nikkan Sports 5/27/2014

Chunichi Dragons

  • Tatsuro Hamada is the first rookie under twenty to start their career with a three-game winning streak since Nippon Ham's Shohei Otani went on a five-game winning streak between 2013 and 2014.  He is also the first rookie under twenty in franchise history to start their career with a three-game winning streak since Akira Uehara in 1988 (as a reliever) and Shinichi Kondo in 1987 (as a starter). Yokohama Bay Stars

  • Shun Yamaguchi started a Ni-gun game against Yomiuri on Sunday.  He tossed six shutout innings and gave up one hit.  The Bay Stars are planning to give Yamaguchi another look as a starter. Source: Daily Sports 5/26/2014
