Hanshin Tigers

  • Takashi Toritani became the 115th player in NPB history to reach the 1,500-hit milestone when he hit a single to left off Yusei Kikuchi in the 5th inning of Thursday's game against the Seibu Lions. Source: Daily Sports 5/29/2014

  • Yutaka Wada picked Mauro Gomez over Ernesto Mejia.  The Tigers narrowed their options down to two players last fall and Wada had final say.  He went with Gomez because he saw him play in person the year before. Source: Sanspo 5/29/2014

Chunichi Dragons

  • 1st round draft pick Shota Suzuki started a Ni-gun game against Hiroshima at Nagoya Dome on Thursday.  He gave up two runs on six hits over five innings of work.  He topped out at 138km/h and struck out five.  The Dragons could turn to Suzuki to start an Ichi-gun game against Seibu in his home town Hamamatsu on June 17. Yokohama Bay Stars
