Rakuten Eagles

  • The Eagles overcame a three-run deficit against the Hanshin Tigers in the bottom of the 9th on Tuesday.  It was the third time the team managed to record a walk-off win in a game after being down three or more runs in the 9th.  The other two occasions: down three runs against Nippon Ham on July 2, 2005; and down five runs against Seibu on September 4, 2010.   • Sho Nakata blasted his first home run in eighty trips to the plate (first in nineteen games) on Tuesday.  His longest home run drought took place in 2011: ninety-six trips to the plate, twenty-three games.  The seventy-nine homerless plate appearances was tied for second longest in Nakata's career; the eighteen games was third longest.
