  • Rhiner Cruz could get called up as early as the 9th. Source: Sports Hochi 6/6/2014 ... Interim manager Yoshinori Sato told reporters he was thinking about using Cruz as a late-inning reliever.  He could also get a look as a starter depending on need.  Cruz is okay to pitch where ever the team needs him. Orix Buffaloes

  • Joey Butler made his Ni-gun debut on Friday against Hanshin.  He got the start in left and batted third.  He went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts (one looking, three swinging). The Buffaloes were able to add Butler to the roster on Thursday because his paperwork cleared.  He is scheduled to play in at least three tune-up Ni-gun games.  He could get called up some time next week if he is ready. Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Shohei Otani could get two more Inter-league starts: June 11 against Yomiuri at Sapporo Dome and June 18 against Hanshin at Koshien. Source: Sponichi 6/6/2014
  • Singer Koji Tamaki is scheduled to sing the national anthem and throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the start of a game against Softbank on July 13.  Tamaki's wife, Noriko Aota, will also be with him. Source: official announcement
