Kenta Maeda was scratched from his next start because of tightness in his left side. He first started feeling the tightness during pre-game practices on Monday. He visited a hospital in Hiroshima today. Nothing serious was found. The Carp decided to skip him once around in the rotation as a precaution. There is a chance he could be taken off the active roster depending on how he is feeling on Wednesday.
Ryuji Ichioka was examined at a hospital in Hiroshima today and diagnosed with inflammation in his right shoulder. The Carp believe he will be able to resume throwing in one to two weeks. Pitching coach Yasuyuki Yamauchi told reporters Ichioka might be ready to return when the regular season resumes on the 27th.
