Yomiuri Giants

  • Tomoyuki Sugano missed pre-game practices on Monday because he was not feeling well.  Sugano arrived at the stadium as usual, but returned home with a fever.  His next start will likely come on the 12th against Nippon Ham at Sapporo Dome. Source: Sanspo 6/10/2014, Daily Sports 6/10/2014
  • Hiroshi Kubo will take over as new team president.  Former team president Tsunekazu Momoi will become new team chairman and former team chairman Tsuneo Watanabe will become a team top adviser.  The changes were finalized on Tuesday. Source: Nikkan Sports 6/10/2014

Hanshin Tigers

  • Daiki Enokida was taken off the active roster on Monday because he gave up six runs (all earned) on seven hits, a walk, and an HBP over 2.1 innings of work on Sunday.  He is expected to spend time working out as a reliever at Ni-gun. Source: Sanspo 6/10/2014

  • The Tigers were shutout by a former foreign player, Jason Standridge, on Monday.  It was the first time they faced a former foreign pitcher since Ryan Vogelsong on June 6, 2009; the first time they lost to a former foreign pitcher since Darrell May on August 9, 2001; and the first time they were shutout by a former foreign pitcher since May on June 27, 2000. Hiroshima Carp

  • A knock-off funassyi was spotted in the stands on the third base side at Monday's game.  The person behind the fake funassyi had to take the costume off because it was attracting too much attention.  The Carp informed the fan that they would call the police if he tried to wear the costume again. Yokohama Bay Stars

  • Yulieski Gourriel used a 920 gram Nakajima model bat for his first trip to the plate on Monday.  He switched over to a lighter bat weighing 880 grams after that. Yakult Swallows
