Yomiuri Giants

  • Tomoyuki Sugano was scratched from his next start on the 12th against Nippon Ham at Sapporo Dome because he missed practices on Monday with a fever.  He was able to rejoin the team for workouts on the Tuesday, but the coaching staff still decided to reschedule his next start because they were concerned about working him too hard.  He will most likely get a start during the upcoming Rakuten series at kobo Stadium that begins on the 14th. Hanshin Tigers

  • Kosuke Fukudome was taken off the active roster on Tuesday because of a slump for the first time in his career.  He will remain at Ni-gun until he regains his swing and is capable of performing at the Ichi-gun level.  There is no time table on his return.  "Kosuke kind of has a chance to start over.  He's getting fewer chances to hit because of where he is.  We're hoping he can figure out what he needs to do by getting more at bats at Ni-gun.  He isn't going to get any better by sitting on the bench [at Ichi-gun]," said Yutaka Wada.  He continued, "There's no doubt we'd like him to get back here as soon as possible, but [unless he figures this out], it's just going to keep happening.  We want him to get himself to a point where he is ready to perform up here, as soon as possible.  It he doesn't deal with this now, it'll just keep dragging out." Yakult Swallows

  • The Swallows became the sixth team in NPB history (third in the Central League and first during Inter-league play) to record a 1-0 victory on the road by scoring the game's only run on a lead-off home run in the 1st inning.  It was the first such game in the Central League since May 29, 1969.
