  • Frederich Cepeda recorded his second pinch-hit home run of the month on Wednesday.  He joined Dick Bunji Kashiwaeda (May 1953) as the only foreign players in franchise history to hit two pinch-hit home runs in one month. Source: Sponichi 6/19/2014

Hanshin Tigers

  • The Tigers are planning to add Daiki Enokida to the active roster as an arm for the bullpen. Source: Nikkan Sports 6/19/2014
  • Atsushi Nomi is scheduled to make his next start on the 22nd against Rakuten at Koshien.  He has a chance to tie Hideo Nomo's NPB record for most consecutive games with ten or more strikeouts, but told reporters he was more interested in holding the opposition to zero runs than striking them out. • Naoto Tsuru was taken off the active roster on Thursday after he failed to do his job on Wednesday -- he gave up two consecutive singles after he entered the game with runners on first and second and one out in the 8th. Source: Sanspo 6/19/2014
  • If Tsuyoshi Nishioka plays third base when he returns, Ryota Imanari and Ryosuke Ogata could compete for time in right field; Ogata could also compete with Yamato for time in center field.  Takahiro Arai and Ryota Arai will likely move to the bench while providing support at first and third.  T. Arai and Kentaro Sekimoto will most likely be the primary bats off the bench. Source: Sanspo 6/19/2014

Chunichi Dragons

  • Kenshin Kawakami threw about fifty pitches in the bullpen at Nagoya Stadium on Thursday.  Kawakami has not pitched in a game since June 5 (vs Ni-gun Orix, eight runs over four innings).  There is no schedule on when he will make his next appearance.  Ni-gun pitching coach Hideki Sato told reporters he wanted to see Kawakami pitch in a batting practice scrimmage before deciding on his next outing. Yokohama Bay Stars

  • The Bay Stars picked up their tenth Inter-league victory of the year on Wednesday.  This marked the first time they reached double-digit wins during Inter-league play since they recorded fourteen in 2007. Source: Sanspo 6/19/2014
