Rakuten Eagles

  • Zach Lutz joined the Ichi-gun team for workouts at Koshien on Friday.  He took fielding practice at third and swung the bat forty-four during batting practice. Source: Nikkan Sports 6/20/2014
  • 1st round dart pick Yuki Matsui is the eighth rookie out of high school since the start of the two-league format to start their career with a four-game losing streak, first since Masato Hiroki in 1978.  Of the seven players before Matsui, Yoji Yoshida (0-5 in 1952; career 0-5 in twenty-six games) and Hiroki (0-4 in 1978; career 0-4 in eleven games) ended their careers before recording a victory. Orix Buffaloes
