The Central League held a meeting in Tokyo on Friday and decided to submit a proposal to cut the Inter-league season from twenty-four games per team to twelve next season.  The proposal will be discussed between the two leagues during an upcoming meeting on the 23rd.  The Pacific League has been pushing to keep the current schedule of twenty-four per team.

Can’t they just leave well enough alone?

I think this is what Mikitani was referencing when he said that the owners seem to want to argue about who gets the largest slice of a shrinking pie rather than trying to enlarge the pie.

I understand that interleague needs some tweaking. I think two different interleague ‘sessions’ makes sense, rather than the current approach which feels a bit like ‘let the Central League teams just get this thing over with so that they can concentrate on bringing the trainloads of Hanshin, Giants and Dragons fans to their home parks’.

It is no surprise that the Pa-League’s website is available in America, whereas the Central League website is not. Awful thinking.
