  • Kosuke Fukudome could begin batting third at Ni-gun as he works through his hitting issues.  The hope is that by placing him higher in the order, he will focus more on making contact and less on trying to do too much with one swing. Source: Sanspo 6/20/2014
  • Pitching coach Kiyooki Nakanishi's three suggestions for Seung Hwan Oh: 1)do not worry about the base runners, focus on the hitter, 2) do not focus too much on keeping the ball low and away, do not be afraid to go up and in, and 3) do not forget to use the two-seamer. • The potential starting rotation when the regular season resumes on the 27th: Randy Messenger, Atsushi Nomi, 6th round draft pick Suguru Iwazaki, Shintaro Fujinami, Minoru Iwata, and Takumi Akiyama. Sanspo 6/20/2014

Hiroshima Carp

  • Kenta Maeda threw a new cutter during his start against Rakuten on Thursday.  He has dabbled with the cutter before, but this was not the same pitch.  "I only threw one or two in the bullpen two days ago.  I wanted to try it when I still had room to breath," said Maeda.  "Opponents have an idea of what my pitches are.  Even if I only throw one it can change things.  It is still not 100 percent."  He added, "I am using a different grip from before.  This is essentially the first time I threw it in an official game." • All Nippon Airways (ANA) will be sponsoring Saturday's game against Lotte at Nagoya Dome.  Baseballs used during the game will feature the ANA logo (with consent from the NPB). Source: Nikkan Sports 6/20/2014

Yokohama Bay Stars

  • Yasutomo Kubo, Shoichi Ino, Shun Yamaguchi, and Guillermo Moscoso will most likely be the primary pitchers in the starting rotation after Inter-league play.  Kiyoshi Nakahata is hoping Daisuke Miura can step up and fill at least one of the two remaining spots. Source: Daily Sports 6/20/2014
