Hanshin Tigers

  • Hiroki Uemoto took some fielding practice in right on Friday.  The coaches told reporters not to read too much into Uemoto working out in right. Source: Nikkan Sports 6/21/2014
  • If one of the weekend games against Rakuten gets rained out, Shintaro Fujinami will most likely start the make-up game on the 23rd.  If there are no rain outs, Fujinami will start a Ni-gun game agianst Orix on the 24th. Source: Sports Hochi 6/21/2014
  • Mauro Gomez still has not shaved his facial hair.  He said to reporters on Friday, "It's going to take a bit longer.  I think everyone will know what my goal is because I'll shave once I reach it." Source: Sanspo 6/21/2014
  • Tsuyoshi Nishioka is twenty-seven days shy of earning his domestic FA option (he should be able to reach that total this year).  He is in the final year of a two-year deal.  The Tigers are reportedly interested in re-signing him. Source: Nikkan Sports 6/21/2014

Hiroshima Carp

  • 2nd round draft pick Allen Kuri will be taken off the active roster and given more time to pitch at the Ni-gun level. Source: Sanspo 6/21/2014
  • Katsuhiro Nagakawa tossed batting practice on Friday.  Nagakawa was taken off the active roster on the 5th because of poor performance.  He pitched in a Ni-gun game against Orix on the 19th and gave up a run (unearned) on two hits over an inning of work. Source: Daily Sports 6/21/2014

Yokohama Bay Stars

  • Yujo Kitagata started throwing from the side about a week ago with hopes to improve his control.  "Right now, I think it's more important for me to find a delivery that is more about stability than velocity.  Power isn't getting things done for me.  I want to try another look," said Kitagata.
