Chiba Lotte Marines

  • Yoshihisa Naruse is currently slated to start Monday's make-up game against Yakult at Jingu.  Naruse was taken off the active roster on the 9th to make adjustments at Ni-gun.  He started a Ni-gun game against Seibu on the 15th and gave up a run on five hits and walk over eight innings of work.  He also struck out ten.  He re-joined the Ichi-gun team for workouts on Friday. • Joey Butler is scheduled to play in a three-game Ni-gun series against Hanshin that begins on the 24th.  If he does well, he could make the active roster when the regular season resumes on the 27th.  Through Friday, Butler has a slash line of .160/.250/.160 in seven Ni-gun games (4-for-25, 3 RBI, 3 BB, 8 SO). Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Mitsuo Yoshikawa could return to the active roster after the All-Star break.  He will continue to pitch and make adjustments at Ni-gun until then.  Yoshikawa was taken off the active roster on May 13 due to poor performance.  He spent the rest of May running and rebuilding his body.  He resumed a throwing program in June.  He started throwing to a squatting catcher last week (he threw seventy-one pitches on Thursday) and is slated to pitch two innings in a Ni-gun game on the 25th against Yokohama.  After that, he will pitch in one Ni-gun game a week and if everything is goes smoothly, he could return to the Ichi-gun team in time for a start on July 21 against Orix at Kyocera Dome.
