Yomiuri Giants

Hanshin Tigers

Hiroshima Carp

  • The Carp recorded its fifth walk-off home run of the season on Sunday.  The Yakult Swallows set the record for most walk-off home runs in a season with nine in 1993.  All five of Hiroshima's walk-off home runs came in extra innings.  That tied the record set by Hankyu in 1969. Hiroshima's previous record for walk-off home runs in a season was four, set in 1983, 1989, 1995, and 2000.  Four different players have hit the five walk-off home runs this year: Eishin Soyogi (two), Shota Dobayashi (one), Brad Eldred (one), and Rainel Rosario (one).  That tied the franchise record set in 1989: Ryuzo Yamasaki, Rod Allen, Yoshihiko Takahashi, and Shinji Nishida. Yokohama Bay Stars

  • Ikusei 2nd round draft pick Kohei Mantani became just the second Ikusei "graduate" in NPB history to record a victory in his first year as a professional player. Source: Sponichi 6/23/2014 ... Mantani is the tenth Ikusei graduate to record a victory, first since Yomiuri's Mizuki Tsuchida earlier this month on the 15th; and is the second Ikusei graduate pitcher to record a victory in franchise history, first since Yuki Kuniyoshi in 2011.  Mantani and Rakuten's Sho Miyagawa (2013) are the only Ikusei graduates to record victories in their first years as professional players.
