Rakuten Eagles

  • Zach Lutz could use intro music performed by band Rats and Stars.  INF/base-running coach Yasutomo Suzuki made the suggestion.  FYI: Rats and Lutz are spelled using the same katakana characters (ラッツ). Source: Nikkan Sports 6/25/2014

Softbank Hawks

  • Tadashi Settsu threw thirty-eight pitches in the bullpen on Wednesday.  He is slated to start Friday's game against the Seibu Lions at Seibu Dome. Source: Nikkan Sports 6/25/2014
  • Nao Higashihama joined the Ichi-gun team for workouts on Tuesday.  He is currently slated for a start on the 29th against Seibu at Seibu Dome.  It will be his first Ichi-gun start since earlier this year on April 3. Source: Nikkan Sports 6/25/2014
  • Seiichi Uchikawa spent some time signing autographs after Tuesday's Ni-gun practice game against Honda Kumamoto -- close to a hundred fans lined up outside the stadium and waited for him. Source: Tokyo Sports 6/25/2014

Orix Buffaloes

  • 1st round draft pick Kazumasa Yoshida started a Ni-gun game against Hanshin on Wednesday.  He pitched six innings and gave up four runs on nine hits, including a two-run home run to Issei Morita in the 4th. Source: Nikkan Sports 6/25/2014
  • Joey Butler played in a Ni-gun game against Hanshin on Tuesday.  He recorded a double in the 4th inning but also struck out twice in four trips to the plate.  The Buffaloes do not want to rush Butler and will probably give him a little more time to adjust to Japanese baseball at Ni-gun. • The Buffaloes are still very much interested in Ichiro Suzuki. Source: Sponichi 6/25/2014

Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Shohei Otani threw about thirty pitches in the bullpen on Tuesday.  The Fighters will try to keep him on a regular schedule of six days of rest.  It was one of the reasons why they pushed Naoyuki Uwasawa to Thursday after Tuesday's rain-out. • Yuki Saito's next Ni-gun start will likely come on the July 1 against Yomiuri at Kamagaya. Source: Nikkan Sports 6/25/2014
