  • Shintaro Fujinami tossed batting practice on Wednesday in preparation for a possible start on July 1 against Yakult.  He threw forty-five pitches, all fastballs, to Kohei Shibata and Ryota Imanari. Source: Sponichi 6/26/2014
  • Kosuke Fukudome was sent down to Ni-gun to work through his slump.  Through eleven games, he went 8-for-36 with seven walks, six strikeouts, and four RBI.  The numbers are not particularly great, but he is still being called up to Ichi-gun with Tsuyoshi Nishioka.  ZakZak wonders why and suggests that the Tigers are trying to dilute attention should one or the other struggle. Source: ZakZak 6/26/2014 ... Ryota Arai and Shibata were taken off the active roster on Wednesday to make room for Nishioka and Fukudome.
  • Yoshinori Tateyama joined Ni-gun workouts at Naruohama on Thursday. Source: Sports Hochio 6/26/2014 ... Tateyama originally turned down the number fifty-three because Norihiro Akahoshi used to wear it. He thought it might be better if a young player with a bright future got it over him.
