Rakuten Eagles

  • The Eagles will celebrate Yuki Matsui's first career victory with four commemorative items: 100 framed autographed photos with certificate of authenticity, 100 autographed baseballs with a certificate of authenticity and display case, replica autographed baseball, replica autographed photo.   • The Lions are planning to add Cody Ransom to the active roster on Thursday.  2nd round draft pick Hotaka Yamakawa will be taken off the active roster to make room for Ransom. Source: Sanspo 7/2/2014

Orix Buffaloes

  • Yuki Nishi gave up two home runs during his start against Rakuten on Tuesday.  It was the first time he surrendered two homers in one game since May 1, 2011.  It also marked the first time he gave up ten or more hits in back-to-back starts in his career. Nishi became the first pitcher in either league to win ten games this season.  Six other pitchers in franchise history have accomplished the same feat in the past: Takao Kashimoto (1954), Shigeo Ishii (1964), Hisashi Yamada (1971, 1976, 1978, 1984), Yutaro Imai (1983), Yoshinori Sato (1985), and Nobuyuki Hoshino (1991; Hideo Nomo and Hoshino recorded their tenth victory on the same day on July 16).
